Ithaca Police are confirming a man in his twenties was found dead in a room at the Ithaca Rescue Mission on West State Street Monday.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a unconscious man in his room at the Rescue Mission, identified as Anthony Salino.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are looking into the possibility of a drug overdose being the cause of death, as drug paraphernalia was found in the room.

Police have been looking into the possibility that a tainted batch of heroin may be circulating, which is believed to be the cause of two other overdose deaths in the City in recent days.

Investigators are working to determine if the same batch of heroin was used by all the victims, and whether it was laced with a foreign substance, like fentanyl.
