Satirical website ridicules Ithaca winter

Ithaca’s harsh winter is back in the national spotlight thanks to a popular satirical website.

In an article published Tuesday on the fake-news site The Onion, a fictional freshman student at Ithaca College remarks that winters are much different in Ithaca than in Florida—mostly because of all the whining.

The article, titled “College Freshman from Florida Has Never Seen People Complain about Snow for Five Months Before”, goes on to ridicule Northeasterners about their constant griping over bad weather.

This is the second time in recent days that Ithaca’s winter has captured nation-wide attention. It follows the Ithaca Tourism Bureau’s announcement last week that people looking to vacation in Ithaca should go to Florida instead.
