SLATERVILLE — This weekend nearly 107 religious institutions around the state will be opening their doors for free tours during the sixth annual Sacred Sites Open House weekend.

St. Thomas Church in Slaterville is one such institution welcoming anyone who wants to learn more about their history and architecture. The church’s Father Cole says the church was started by those looking for health cures in the nearby springs.

“It was founded and the building was originally constructed in 1892. At that time Slaterville Springs was a bustling destination for those who were coming to seek the health cures of the mineral waters that were there,” Father Cole said.

The open house at St. Thomas will be from 10 to 3 on Saturday, and 1 to 3 on Sunday.
