Slope Day traffic, parking impacts arrive at Cornell University

ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Some roads and parking lots have begun to close for Cornell Slope Day.

The annual end of the school year celebration is this Wednesday, May 10, 2023. Traffic will mostly be affected on Wednesday, but some closures will begin today and tomorrow. A full list of impacts is below. Visit TCAT’s website for bus route and schedule changes.

ROAD CLOSURES

  • West Avenue between Campus Road and University Avenue will be closed to all traffic and parking from 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, to 8:00 a.m. Thursday, May 11.
  • Campus Road between College Avenue and Stewart Avenue will be closed on Slope Day, Wednesday, May 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

PARKING LOT CLOSURES

  • Willard Straight Hall lot will be closed from Monday, May 8, at 7:00 a.m. to Thursday, May 11, at 7:00 a.m. (Short-term parking at Cornell Health will remain available for patient use.)
  • West Avenue parking lots will be closed from 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, to 8:00 a.m. Thursday, May 11.

Any cars parked in these parking lots after 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 10 will be towed at the owner’s expense.

DETOURS

  • Anabel Taylor Hall and Myron Taylor Hall will be accessible from the College Avenue and Campus Road intersection.
  • Mary Ann Wood Drive and Forest Park Lane will be accessible from the Stewart Avenue and Campus Road intersection.
