Tioga County bids farewell to Sheriff’s captain

OWEGO, N.Y. (WHCU) — The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office is saying goodbye to one of its own. 

Captain Shawn Nalepa is retiring, effective today, after 26 years of service in Tioga County. Nalepa started in Corrections and worked his way up, spending more than a decade as an investigator before being promoted to Captain of Operations in the summer of 2020.  

Nalepa will be recognized on Tuesday by the Tioga County Legislature.
