ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Tompkins County Sheriff Derek Osborne says more information is available on the office’s dashboard.

Data from the Civilian Response Unit is now live on the transparency hub. Most of the incidents the unarmed unit has responded to are for fraud and property complaints, and slightly more than 80% of all calls have been resolved without assistance from deputies.

The Civilian Response Unit was created to provide a better response to the community in non-emergency situations and began operating in 2022. The Sheriff’s Office is hoping to fill the second clerk position soon, and credits Sam Pulliam for his work so far in the unit.
