CHENANGO, NY (607NewsNow) — A one-year-old has died in a Broome County fire.

It happened Monday afternoon at a home on Broad Street in Chenango. New York State Police say a 26-year-old woman made it out safely with two children but was not able to get the infant because of heavy, thick smoke. The child was eventually pulled out by deputies through a window but died of their injuries at Upstate Medical Center.

The fire’s cause is still being determined.
