CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – A Cortland man faces charges in Cayuga County.

On August 23, 32-year-old Cody Carroll was arrested in Locke and charged with felony reckless endangerment and misdemeanor unlawful dealing with a child.

Carroll is accused of buying alcohol for three underage people in Moravia on the night of August 19. State Police say Carroll was driving at a high rate of speed on Chestnut Ridge Road when one of the minors, 19-year-old Tanner Welsh, fell out of the back of his pickup truck and was seriously injured.

Welch, who was found unconscious in a ditch, suffered an apparent arm injury and cuts. He was transferred to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center before being transferred to Upstate University Hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
