CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – Cortland is getting a major boost from New York.

On December 23, Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the city will receive $6 million in funding to support 89 new housing units.

The money, which comes from Empire State Development’s Pro-Housing Supply Fund, will be used to complete water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure upgrades along the Homer Avenue Corridor. It will replace deficiencies and coordinate utility upgrades to help advance the Bridgeview Commons and The Lofts at the Gillette Skirt Factory housing developments.

Bridgeview Commons will be a 61-unit affordable housing community with nonprofit and commercial space. The Lofts is a 28-unit adaptive reuse project with 28 mixed-income units.

The funding was part of the same announcement that saw Ithaca’s Southworks project win $38 million. A full list of winners is available here.
