Defendant in Rath murder accepts plea deal, to testify against co-defendants

OWEGO, NY (CortacaToday) – A defendant in the Thomas Rath murder case has accepted a plea deal.

The Ithaca Voice reports Colleen Dillon, of Newfield, pled guilty in Tioga County Court last week to a single charge of second-degree kidnapping. The plea and reduced prison sentence come in exchange for her testimony against others involved with the abduction and killing of Ithaca man Thomas Rath in May 2023.

Dillon was initially charged with a single count of kidnapping but was later indicted on four felony charges including first and second-degree murder. She was one of 13 people ultimately arrested in connection with the crime after the discovery of Rath’s body in August 2023.

Dillon is expected to appear in court to testify against the four co-defendants also charged with murder: Angelo Baez, Jonathon Glennon, Joseph Howell, and David Maycumber.
