CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – A new thrift store is coming soon to the City of Cortland.

Goodwill is preparing to move into Riverside Plaza, with a grand opening date set for Friday, July 17.

Following a ribbon-cutting ceremony, doors at the 25,000-square-foot location will open to the public at 9 a.m. The first 100 shoppers in line 16 and older will receive a $10 Goodwill gift card.

“Opening our first store in Cortland is an exciting milestone for Goodwill of the Finger Lakes,” said President and CEO Jennifer Lake. “As part of the Goodwill Northeast Circularity Hub and our mission to elevate people, community, and the planet, this new location expands access to affordable shopping while creating more opportunities for the Cortland community to participate in sustainable reuse and recycling. We look forward to welcoming shoppers and donors from across the Crown City and partnering with local organizations to strengthen our collective impact throughout the region.”

Store hours will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Goodwill is actively accepting applications to fill open positions. Interested candidates can apply online.

The Crown City store marks the continued expansion effort of Goodwill of the Finger Lakes into the area. In April 2025, the nonprofit group opened its first location in Tompkins County at the former Ollie’s in Ithaca.
