GROTON, NY (607NewsNow) – Groton is getting state support for residents.

On January 9, Governor Hochul announced that the village has received $675,000 to help low to moderate-income households with rehabilitation costs. It’s part of over $68 million in funding through New York Homes and Community Renewal’s Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG).

“Addressing the housing crisis is about more than creating new places for people to live,” said Hochul. “With this more than $68 million investment, we can help nearly 1,300 individuals and families make the repairs and upgrades that are necessary for them to remain safely and securely housed today and into the future.”

The CDBG money coming to Groton is earmarked for owner-or-renter-occupied home improvements, including private water and wastewater system assistance.

Elsewhere in Tompkins County, the Town of Danby has also received a CDBG housing rehabilitation grant for $700,000. You can see the full list of awardees here.
