ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – The holiday will have recycling impacts in Tompkins County.

On December 24, the Hancock Street Food Scraps Recycling Drop Spot in Ithaca will be closed, and the Newfield Drop Spot will be closed on Christmas Day.

On December 25, the Recycling and Solid Waste Center and Recycling and Materials Management Office will also be closed. Both will reopen on December 26 for regular hours. Additionally, there will be no curbside recycling collection on Christmas, and pick-up will operate on a one-day delay for the remainder of the week.

Residents who typically dispose of their food scraps on Wednesdays and Thursdays are encouraged to visit other drop spots.
