ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) — One person was injured in a house fire on Ithaca’s South Hill.

According to the Ithaca Fire Department, crews rushed early Friday morning to a ‘heavy fire’ on the second floor of a house on Kings Way in the town of Ithaca.

“Fortunately, no victims were found inside, and the occupants were later accounted for and were not home,” said IFD’s assistant chief Jim Wheal.

The house suffered significant damage and “cannot be occupied until repairs are made,” according to a news release from the Ithaca Fire Department. A firefighter was hospitalized for injuries.

IFD is still investigating the cause of Friday’s fire.
