ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Coming soon to Ithaca Tompkins International Airport (ITH) – more service to Washington, D.C.

United Airlines is launching a third daily flight to the nation’s capital this October, providing morning, afternoon, and evening travel opportunities for passengers.

The move was made possible by a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Small Community Air Service Development Program. The funding was secured after a collaborative effort with Tompkins County, Ithaca Area Economic Development, Cornell University, Ithaca College, and the Tompkins Chamber.

“Expanded air service is more than just added convenience,” said Tompkins Chamber President Peggy Coleman. “It is a strategic investment in Tompkins County’s future. Air connectivity fuels business growth, attracts investment, supports tourism, and opens doors to new markets, making it a powerful tool for economic development in Tompkins County.”

The new flight option was first announced in December 2024.
