ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Ithaca’s Conservation Board seeks nominees for an award.

Town officials invite nominations for the 23rd annual Richard B. Fischer Conservation Award.

The award is named in honor of the late Dr. Richard Fischer, who was a Cornell professor, nature lover, and member of the Conservation Board. He was well known for his work in helping establish New York’s bottle redemption law to reduce waste and litter.

Individuals or organizations who have helped improve the natural environment are eligible. Winners will have their names added to a plaque at Ithaca Town Hall and to a tree at a town park or trail, which will be planted at a celebration in their honor.

Candidate submissions are due by the end of the day on February 28.
