ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Several groups in Ithaca will benefit from state funding.

On December 9, Governor Hochul announced nearly $46 million in conditional awards for supportive housing projects across New York.

The Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative funds services to help stably house New Yorkers experiencing homelessness, including older adults, survivors of domestic or gender-based violence, veterans, and individuals with a mental illness or substance use disorder.

Local organizations receiving support include The Village at Ithaca, The Reach Project, and Catholic Charities of Tompkins and Tioga.

Officials say the money will be used toward operating expenses for over 8,300 housing units statewide.
