Memorial golf tournament being held for late Tioga County investigator

OWEGO, NY (607NewsNow) — Money will be raised for the family of a fallen law enforcement officer.

A golf tournament in the memory of Tioga County Sheriff’s Investigator Ryan Bunce is being planned for late summer. In March, Bunce died unexpectedly at the age of 32. He was promoted to investigator in 2021.

The Ryan S. Bunce Memorial Golf Tournament will raise money for his two young children and support the Ryan Bunce Memorial Scholarship at Spencer Van Etten High School for student athletes passionate about the outdoors.

“Bunce, of Spencer, was hired by the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office in 2014, and promoted to Investigator in 2011. He is remembered as an exceptional law enforcement officer and a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend,” according to a news release.

The tournament is planned for Aug. 15 at the Golf Club at Owego.
