SYRACUSE, NY (CortacaToday) – Authorities say there was no evidence of a shooting at the State Fair on Sunday night.
The Great New York State Fair closed early on Sunday, August 31, 2024, “out of an abundance of caution” after reports of violence. At 8:38 p.m., State Police working the fairgrounds received a report of possible shots fired between the midway and Suburban Park. Just three minutes later, another call came in claiming shots were fired near the eatery building.
Troopers responded to both locations and after investigating the grounds determined there was no evidence of gunshots or any injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
In related news, State Police arrested a North Carolina man outside the State Fair for criminal possession of a weapon one week ago.
