Pennsylvania man faces four felonies in fatal Tioga County crash


NICHOLS, NY (CortacaToday) – A Pennsylvania man is charged in a fatal Tioga County crash.

Jack Lineburg, of Athens, is accused of striking a motorcycle with his car at a high speed in Nichols on the night of September 16, 2024, killing 64-year-old Calvin Pierce, of Barton, and seriously injuring 45-year-old Carla Pierce, of Ulster, Pennsylvania. According to the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO), Carla Pierce is in stable condition and recovering. Just over two weeks ago, TCSO shared that an unidentified suspect was detained at the scene and charges were pending.

Lineburg was arrested on Thursday, October 3, 2024, and charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, DWI, driving with a blood alcohol content greater than .08%, and aggravated unlicensed operation, all felonies. He was additionally charged with misdemeanor reckless driving and other violations. Lineburg has a previous DWI conviction in New York within the last 10 years.

Lineburg was held on $10,000 bail. He will appear in Town of Nichols Court at a later date.
