Required boater safety course offered in Cortland County, register now


CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) – Registration is open for an upcoming boater safety course in Cortland County.

A change in state law requires all motorized boat and personal watercraft operators to have a new safety certificate by January 1st, 2025, regardless of age. Younger students must be at least 10 at the start of the course. Sponsored by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and offered by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, space is limited for the one-day course.

The New York State Safe Boating Course happens on September 14, 2024, beginning at 8 a.m. Register here.
