TRUMANSBURG, NY (607NewsNow) — According to a July 14th Facebook post from Taughannock Falls State Park, swimming is currently closed.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation defines harmful algal blooms as “visible patches of cyanobacteria, also called blue-green algae.” These blooms can pose health risks to humans and animals through inhalation, skin contact, and ingestion.

If you believe you have had contact with or ingested harmful algae blooms, report any health symptoms to NYS Health Department at harmfulalgae@health.ny.gov and contact your local health department.
