DRYDEN, NY (607NewsNow) — In Dryden, town officials are discussing the possibility of creating a unified fire district.

Dryden Town Supervisor Jason Leifer tells 607 News Now the proposal would merge business operations of the fire departments currently under contract with the town.

Leifer says it requires approval from the villages of Freeville and Etna.

If approved by all municipalities involved, fire commissioners would be elected by voters beginning in 2027. It would tentatively be called the Dryden Fire District, Leifer said.
