ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – State Senator Lea Webb is seeking submissions for her annual Earth Day Student Showcase.

Children across the Southern Tier in grades K-12 are encouraged to submit essays, poetry, and artwork that embody this year’s theme, “Our Power, Our Planet.”

Webb aims to educate students about the importance of recycling and waste reduction, while encouraging them to discuss environmental issues in their community and devise creative solutions to address concerns.

“Every year, Earth Day encourages our communities to care for our planet and be aware of the impacts we can make with our habits,” said Webb. “I’m excited to announce my Earth Day Celebration Student Showcase, inviting youth in Senate District 52 to express how we can incorporate Earth Day’s principles into everyday practices. I look forward to seeing the submissions and encourage everyone to participate.

Submissions, which are due on the New York State Senate website by April 30, must include the name and email address of a parent or teacher.
