The ‘Safe’ Amount of Alcohol

Did you have a few drinks with friends over the weekend?  Well, we’ve got some good news, and bad news . . .

A study at the University of Washington found drinking SOME alcohol is probably safe and won’t hurt you.  But the amount you can safely drink is comically low.

For women under 40, it’s safe to drink up to TWO TABLESPOONS of wine a day.  Or if you’re not a wine fan, 3.3 ounces of beer.  That’s about a quarter of a can.

For men under 40, it’s even less . . . around one tablespoon of wine, or a shot glass of beer.

Basically, the study found no amount of alcohol is good for younger people.  And anything more than what we just listed is BAD for you.

There might be some minor benefits for people over 40, like lowering your risk for heart disease.  But that’s only if you don’t have any underlying health conditions.

If you’re a healthy person who’s over 40, you can safely drink a half-glass of wine a day, or half a beer.
