3 Months and Counting

Dante is 3 months old on Tues 7/9 – that’s right, I can’t believe it…Three. Months. Old.   It’s been quite a ride so far, and in some ways very stressful, but despite the mommy breakdowns I’ve had over the past 3 months(!) it’s nice to know that all those times people said to me “It gets easier” and I rolled my eyes at them, they were actually right.  We had our delayed 2 month Well Child visit last week (delayed due to a series of rabies shots last month from a rabid bat in our house…don’t even get me started on that.) and we are progressing quite nicely.  Here are some notes…

GROWTH

Weight: 12lb 11oz (up 3lbs 3oz since last Dr visit!)

Length: 23.25in (+2in since birth)

Size: Just graduated into size 0-3mos, and also diaper Size 1! … took him a little while. I just packed up all his NB(Newborn) size clothes, ready for the next of our friends in line who have a boy. But it was a sad day to do that… Especially when I found that pile of super cute onesies in the back of the drawer that I forgot that we had. Wahhhhhh!!!

MILESTONES AND DEVELOPMENT

-starting to attempt rolling over – from back to front! Which I hear is opposite of how it usually happens.

-smiles and laughs (and gets all ‘kicky pants’) constantly when engaged in “baby talk”

-“Ahhh-gooo” is still his favorite “word”.

-grasps at toys held above him. Doesn’t quite understand how to open his hands up at will though.

-very alert and aware of people (and cats) walking through the room, follows them with his eyes.

-hair continuously looks more ‘auburn’ while it seems that his skull has grown quite a bit! Huge melon!

-eyes have glints of brown in them… but still primarily bluish. What color will they ultimately be?

-drooling a lot more… teething coming soon.

Likes

-outdoors

– conversation in baby talk

-toys: “crinkle monkey” & “Mr. Peacock” – both make crinkly noises when you squeeze them

-lying on his changing table pad

-ceiling tiles

-trees, the sky

-being carried around….constantly.

-noise like the air conditioner

Dislikes

– being put down

– interruptions in feeding

– the heat

– the car seat

-long car rides

SLEEPING

-sleeps well through the night, always has.

-gets cranky around 5pm, which is what we call the beginning of his “unhappy hour”

-can sleep through loud gatherings

EATING

-still nursing!! yay, mommy a.k.a. “the Lunch Truck”!!

-up to about 4oz each feed
