I’m sitting here listening to the ping-ping-ping of sleet or freezing rain hitting my window sill, feeling slightly helpless and weathered in. It’s 8:21pm, Tuesday evening. I was supposed to attend the free lecture series for “Exercise and Pregnancy” which is offered by Cayuga Medical Center… “supposed to” being the operative phrase here, as I was signed up for it, quite looking forward to it (I have my lime green preggo notebook and clicky pen sitting right here next to my keys, ready to go), and then the weather set in. The radar looks like a paint-by-numbers kit of my youth…though I can’t tell if it looks more like a Calico cat or a topographical map of Russia. Odd.
Some may say that it’s “not that bad out” right now – those that may own a big-honkin’ truck and the cojones to plow through anything Mother Nature throws at them (small cars included) – but being I live on a gigantic hill and would undoubtedly a) slide down sideways and b) spin out coming back up, I just can’t chance it… not with Bebe on Board. Mother Nature gave me caution and common sense.
But being iced in did give me the opportunity to give in to that nagging feeling of nesting and get a few Bebe-related things done. Things like washing the cloth parts/covers of all the donated baby gear I’ve received from friends, putting the co-sleeper and necessary parts near the bed and ready to set up, and getting a bag out and ready to pack for the hospital. This is getting serious, my friends!
Anthony is having a ‘painting party’ the day of my shower, and so the house is in a holding pattern now until then since there will be nursery paintin’, cabinet door fixin’, and most certainly some testosterone laden beer drinkin’ going on here that day. So I can’t really set anything up in the house Bebe-wise until AFTER all of the shenanegans are done and the paint is dry (literally). Until then, things sit in piles in various rooms with mental notes attached to them for where they need to go, and the only thing left to do is sit here and watch “Dual Survival” on Discovery Channel and enjoy each time my little one gets the hiccups 🙂 [hic] [hic] [hic]
