Where Has the Time Gone?

Today Dante is 16 weeks old! The baby math on this has always perplexed me, but then again I AM in radio and we notoriously don’t do math. Well, at least I don’t. What I’m saying is that 16 weeks does not equal 4 months. He’ll technically be 4 months on the 9th. Alright I just made my brain hurt.

Anywho, I’ve been sort of blindsided by how big and strong he’s getting, so quickly! I did an inventory of all his newborn sized clothes a few weeks ago and restocked the drawers with 0-3mo sized stuff (which were fitting him at the time, despite being over 3 months)… and now he’s already growing out of THOSE. And still the same problem as I had – I’m finding crazy cute things he hasn’t worn yet!!! I almost feel like I should go through and dress him in all those too-tight outfits and take photos of him wearing each one.

But here’s what’s going on with him…

GROWTH

Weight: 13lb 11oz (up 1lb since last Dr visit!)

Size: 3-6mo clothing in most cases – a lot of these sizes vary. Size 1 diapers are getting snug, and I still have 2 massive boxes of them to go through!!

MILESTONES AND DEVELOPMENT

-does ‘squats’ with mommy! Sits on my lap and pushes up to a stand with my help, and gets SO excited when he does, to the point he can’t deal with how excited he is and sticks his fist in his mouth.

-kicking his legs and pushing himself across whatever surface he’s on – he does this in his co-sleeper and when on his changing table, to the point where his head scrunches up at the top and he can’t go any further.

-baby talk is progressing into conversations with toys, and with himself when traveling in the car.

-easily distracted while eating – will stop and stare at whatever catches his eye (mostly the TV) and will then cough on milk because he forgets to swallow.

-hands are getting more precise and grabbing things… including mommy’s earrings.

-grasps at a certain toy we have that plays “You are My Sunshine” (his jam!).. knows that if he yanks the cord it will play his song. Does this over and over.

-hair starting to ‘bald’ or turn into peach fuzz in a ring around the back of his head from where he lies on surfaces.

-eyes still showing glints of brown in them…

-drooling a LOT more… I think he’s teething. He gets inexplicably grumpy sometimes.

-getting better at being good in restaurants – then again we take him out more. Get used to it kid, mommy likes dining out!

 LIKES

-outdoors, always

-toys: anything with rings on it

-lying on his changing table pad

-ceiling tiles

-trees, the sky

-being carried around….constantly.

-noise like the air conditioner

 DISLIKES

– being put down

– interruptions in feeding

-baths when he’s cranky

MEDICAL

-Took him to the doc the other day because of an irritation on the back of his knee (looked like heat rash?) that turned into redness/dry leathery skin around the front of his thigh and shin… but they weren’t sure what it was. Possibly eczema? Seems to be getting better.

 SLEEPING

-sleeps well through the night, always has.

-gets cranky around 5pm, which is what we call the beginning of his “unhappy hour”

-can sleep through loud gatherings

EATING

-still nursing!! yay, mommy a.k.a. “the Lunch Truck”!!

-up to about 4oz each feed
