Where is the Time Going?

Oh my, how did I miss this??? Dante turned 20 weeks old on Tuesday!!! Bad mom! Bad mom! Well, I guess there’s a point where you stop counting the days and weeks since that momentous event… but, still 20 weeks seems pretty significant.

Everyday is a new adventure, and a new amazement on my part at the skills he’s developing. Maybe most people don’t consider reaching and grasping at items an amazing feat, but as a parent actions like that are the most entertaining and pride-inspiring moments that ground you back down to earth… and the realization that time flies.

He’s doing progressively more ‘creeping’, pushing himself around the floor, the playmat, and the bed. We haven’t started ‘babyproofing’ really yet, as he’s still relatively immobile, but I have 2 babygates on the way.  Oh boy, here it comes!

GROWTH

Weight: uh… he was like 14lbs 8oz last doctor visit a week ago. Haven’t weighed him since so I’m not quite sure.  Bad Mom.

Length: 25.25 in (a full 5 inches longer than at birth)

MILESTONES AND DEVELOPMENT

-‘standing up’ quite well… strongly supporting his torso upright while standing on my lap, me holding his hips.

-his new favorite thing: “one, two, three, JUMP!!!” while mommy lifts him into the air.

-teething. Oh, yes, teething. Though I can’t see anything coming in yet. Almost looks like his molars are at the surface – but I know that can’t be true.

-holds his bottle every once in a while.

-baby hair is balding in weird patches still. But it’s longer toward the back/nape of his neck. Almost looks like a mullet! and I think I can see ‘new hair’ growth coming in under his baby hair at the top.

LIKES

-a specific type of ‘binky’. The “Soothie”. I think it’s cuz he’s teething and he prefers the shape.

-toys: any soft toy that has hard plastic rings hanging from it. Anything he can remotely attempt to shove in his mouth.

-being carried around….constantly. still.

-swinging outdoors

-smiling and flirting with pretty ladies

DISLIKES

– being put down

– teething

SLEEPING

– is pretty predictable with times for naps, and bedtime.

EATING

-still nursing!! yay!

-I’ve been so tempted to move toward solid foods, but am trying to hold out til the recommended 6 months of exclusive breastfeeding.

– also took a big hit in milk production last weekend when he spent the night at Grammie’s. Not only did I plow through most of my freezer stash of milk, but I seem to be producing less since I missed some nursing sessions. Trying to ramp back up, though I feared at the beginning of the week that formula supplementation would be in our near future.
